Washington,D.C.-Michelle and Barrack Obama have taken to bed for a week to promote world peace. The announcement came on the heals of the president's winning of the Nobel Peace Prize for Inactivity by a World Leader.
The couple plans on spending the next five days lying in bed, reading, fielding reporter's questions, and making love. The first two days have gone relatively unnoticed with the couple giving only a few phone interviews to selected sympathetic radio talk show hosts. Today was the first day reporters were let in, en masse, to interview the couple in person.
Reporters were asked to steer clear of any thing controversial like health care reform, or why the dog made doo-doo in the Lincoln Bedroom again. The resulting banter was fairly tame. Questions ranged from the obvious, "What [are] you doing in bed? (Answer: "we're only trying to get us some peace."), to the obscure, "Where were you married?"(Answer: Gibraltar near Spain.).
The most controversial answer came from Mr. Obama when asked why he felt he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. His response, "We're more popular than The Beatles now", set off an immediate outcry from the media and a threat of a lawsuit from the surviving members of the Beatles, Sirs Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. There was no word from the Vatican as of press time.
Although no pictures were allowed, one reporter was quoted as saying that "They look just like two gurus in drag.".
