image for A Grim Fairy Tale: Our Very Own President Pinnochio Caught Lying!
Puppet on a String Outed in 'City of Fools'

City of Catchfools/ A Never Ending Tale - In a night of enlightenment for the US electorate, the US President was exposed in front of the nation as a complex web of lies finally ensnared the little wooden puppet from Chicago, who wanted to become a King.

What was left for viewers was nothing more than 'chickens coming home to roost', chronicling the rapid rise and fall of a wooden apparition who continued to over reach and fell back to earth in a tangle of prevarication.

Conservative pundits likened the tale to that of the imaginary Pinnochio, a wooden figure carved to mirror it's creators' imagination, and shaped by tinkering during late night carving sessions in smokey Chicago back rooms.

The one flaw in Pinnochio's makeup was the fact every time he told a lie, his nose grew and gave him away; this was noticed but ignored by his puppet masters, who realized that most people were blind to Pinnochio's flaws, and wouldn't even notice.

Surrounding the amazing rise of President Pinnochio were a cast of characters to enrich the spell binding story.

There was Robert Gibbs, the spokesman, as Jimminy Cricket, who overlooked Pinnochio's faults and always tried to spin the President's tales in a positive light.

Of course there was the 'Turquoise Fairy', the honorable Speaker of the House, the immaculately coiffed Nancy Pelosi, so named for her California constituents and her billowing pant suit color of choice.

Once President Pinnochio achieved his goal of reaching the pinnacle in the City of Catchfools, he began to think he was in 'The Land of Play', where no work was required, and just being there was enough. He had forgotten the prophesy that he who does not work, soon turns into a donkey with BIG EARS.

Since he was surrounded by Donkeys, no one seemed to notice for awhile since The City of Fools tended to collect residents that all looked alike.

One of the first signs of trouble was when President Pinnochio was convinced by the Cat and the Fox, Rep. Frank, and Senator Dodd, both charlatans, to bury the wealth he was in charge of, in order to have it multiply, and serve the needs of the whole country by providing housing for all.

It didn't take long for Pinnochio to figure out he had been fleeced out of the nation's hard earned money...instead of more housing for his constituents there was even less, and those that had houses were losing them due to the failure of the banks that backed their loans. Meanwhile the Cat and the Fox, deflected all criticism from themselves and blamed the previous puppet in charge of The City of Catchfools.

During President Pinnochio's star crossed journey he was beset by weasels, snakes, a shark, a whale, but his supporters, Jimminy Cricket, the Turquoise Fairy, and even a Tuna from America Somoa somehow was always there to pull him from the jaws of defeat, just in the nick of time.

President Pinnochio's remarkable run to the top came unexpectedly to an end during a joint meeting of Congress that he had called in a last ditch effort to have the population adopt his vision for the future.

Unfortunately it ended badly, as one amazed legislator, his eyes suddenly clear, and unable to control himself, stood and shouted, " Look....he's only a wooden Puppet!"

There was a moment of embarrassed silence as the assembled lawmakers stared first at the speaker who had dared to break the decorum of the House in the City of Catchfools. Then one by one, they turned their attention to the stage and saw for the first time the wooden features and the not so invisible strings attached to their leader.

Silently the audience began to file out, the Fox and the Cat were no where to be seen, Jimminy Cricket was speechless, and the Turquoise Fairy had flown the coop.

Soon the platform was empty, the only sign of the event were 6 teleprompters scrolling in an endless loop and a pile of sawdust on the floor.

Many wondered, 'who would be the next to take over in the City of Catchfools?'
