image for George Bush to open shoe shop when he retires
One of the shoes being sold next year by then ex- President Bush

President George bush has decided that when he retires, rather than go on the lecture circuit where you have to think on your feet, he's going into a business where he can think about feet.

He's combining his existing talent for putting his foot in his mouth with the tens of thousands of complmentary shoes he has received in recent weeks from admiring Iraqi journalists.

Enlisting the services of his family, they are buying a store in the popular Pembroke Pines shopping mall in southern Florida.

According to the outgoing president, the store will be named after him and and his brother Jed, and will be called the "The Return of the Jed 'n' I Shoestore".

Initially, George Bush senior has some mixed feelings about the saleability of the thousands of odd shoes his son had been showered with. Also, as most had been given as gifts during the President's speeches, they would be unable to offer a guarantee when soled (sic) in the shop.

The President was said to be very excited about invading the Pembroke Pines shopping mall and promised that there would be as few credit card casualties as possible. He stated:

"This is going to be a smooth shoperation. I can promise the people of America, including my fellow Americans, that if they need to be shoed out of anywhere, we can do just that. We're going to sock it to them by getting off on the right foot. And we won't do a runner."
