Reykjavík - Iceland is basking in the world spotlight today as it has been pinpointed as the source of the global economic meltdown.
Farmwife Sonja Arnason, of Stokkseyr, just outside of Reykjavík was defrosting her kitchen freezer and somehow cross-connected it with the Internet connection on her home computer.
"Dear me! Einar told me not to press F7 when he left to go to town to buy some feed, who could have known?
"I had just taken out all the frozen peas and lutefisk and brought them over to my sister Friska, then I turned off the icebox like I usually do. We talked for awhile and watched television together. When I come back home from watching LazyTown the meltdown had already started and it was too late!"
Iceland's chief banking administrator Bjarni Magnusson says that Sonja's husband Einar had created a homemade network connection connecting all household appliances to his home computer. How negative feedback from the defrosting refrigerator backed up into the International Financial network and cause the global crisis is still being investigated.
While Mrs. Arnason is still visibly distraught over causing the worldwide calamity she is hopeful things can be rectified.
"Wait till Einar comes home, he can fix anything!"
