There was a shock result at the world's most prestigious beauty contest in Paris last night, when a stunning 47-year-old mum from Argentina was crowned Miss World.
Norma Mansilla, of Mercedes, Buenos Aires, won the contest hands-down despite her advancing years, from Miss Thailand, 39, in second, whilst third place was Miss Algeria, Farida Benamar, aged 45.
The combined ages of the trio was 131, but all three were "absolute stunners" according to the judges. It's unusual for the winners of beauty pageants to be older than 19, but makes a refreshing change to have a victor who can speak English using long words of more than one syllable.
All three could also write their own names unaided.
Mrs Mansilla, a mother-of-two, speaks perfect English, and is a teacher in her spare time. She also makes clothes, cooks, cleans, washes, irons and does the shopping, all whilst keeping a herd of steer, and managing to stay beautiful.
Miss Benamar, in third, is a painter, and makes bombs in her spare time.
