Dorothy Gale, a 15 year old Kansas girl, was being sought by juvenile authorities from the country of Oz this afternoon for the double homicide of two sisters.
Oz police claim Gale escaped from her family after a tornado in Kansas and she found her way to Oz. Her exact means of transportation to Oz remains unclear.
Immediately upon arriving in Oz Dorothy is alleged to have brutally murdered an elderly resident for her ruby slippers with the assistance of a blond woman known only as Glinda. Police are still seeking the murder weapon which local coroners have described as a large blunt instrument.
Dorothy is also accused of stealing the red slippers, the rightful inheritance of the woman's sister.
After a short time in Oz Dorothy teamed up with some local gang members known as the Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodsman. They allegedly found themselves in a field of poppies nearly overdosing on cocaine and opium. However, later her accomplice Glinda arrived with some cocaine, otherwise known in the drug world as 'snow', to help counteract the effects of the drugs.
According to law enforcement officials, the youthful miscreants soon became involved with a local Oz politician known as Wizard who was running for office against the dead woman's sister. Upon his orders, Dorothy and her gang brutally murdered the woman by burning her with acid.
Dorothy managed to escape from Oz before local authorities could arrest her for the crimes.
The other gang members and the politician are being held without bail.
As the U.S. currently has no extradition treaty with Oz, Dorothy may very well get away with murder. However, US Justice Department officials are looking at the case and will be making a decision within the next few weeks.
Dorothy would most likely be tried as an adult and, if found guilty, executed.
