The Lebanese Shia Extremist movement Hezbolla announced today it is completing its transition from militia into entertainment with the zany Broadway musical Hezbolla-Poppin.
Former guerrilla leader turned impresario Fade Fayed says that people are going to be surprised at the performance of his troops who have been rehearsing at a suicidal pace. While admitting that Hezbolla was once committed to the total destruction of Israel Fayed insists that the show will succeed and says that each and every soldier is a song and dance man at heart.
Fayed may be right. Initial review of Hezbolla-Poppin by drama critics have been favorable. Political pundits however think Jewish-American patrons will fail to support the show regardless of its merit due to its controversial message:
"To expel Americans, the French and their allies definitely from Lebanon putting an end to any colonialist entity on our land. To submit the Phalanges to a just power and bring them all to justice for the crimes they have perpetrated against Muslims and Christians. To permit all the sons of our people to determine their future and to choose in all the liberty the form of government they desire. We call upon all of them to pick the option of Islamic government which alone is capable of guaranteeing justice and liberty for all. Only an Islamic regime can stop any future tentative attempts of imperialistic infiltration onto our country."
Israelis are split over support for the show. Some are wary it is an attempt by Hezbolla to destroy Israel by winning over their political power base in the United States, others say it depends on the show tunes.
