Spoof writer of note Dr Edward Maxwell announced a partnership with the Dalai Lama today, the first such spoof writer to do so.
The move comes amid signs of an imminent crackdown by Chinese armed forces in Tibet. Tibetans are becoming increasingly unhappy living under Chinese rule, and some have been protesting.
Dr Edward Maxwell and the Dalai Lama spoke by telephone last night and agreed to offer one another support in their respective quests for freedom from oppression.
Mr Lama said that he sympathized with Dr Maxwell's plight.
"Dr Maxwell has been brutally repressed by the other spoof writers on TheSpoof.com," Mr Lama said, "in much the same way Tibetans have been brutally repressed by the Chinese government. Dr Maxwell has merely wanted an equal voice and the right to live in peace and be free, as have the people of Tibet. We are happy to merge our two great causes into one."
Dr Maxwell thanked Mr Lama for his support. It was noted by Dr Maxwell that Tibet had been invaded and he could sympathize with that, because he had to put up with daily interference and meddling from other writers.
Dr Maxwell said he planned to make a trip to Tibet as soon as the Chinese had finished their crackdown.
