image for Roger Federer to Play 2008 Wearing 5 to 10 Pounds of Ankle Weights On Each Leg!
Federer will tie left arm behind back before each match.

Switzerland - In a rare interview from Roger Federer's home in Switzerland, the world Number 1 tennis player has an interesting proposition to the rest of the world's ATP players. "I'm sick of winning so easily," said Roger, "With the exception of Rafael (Nadal), whom I actually respect, I will be tieing my left arm behind my back. For Andy Roddick I will also be wearing ankle weights, that way I'll at least get a decent work out."

We asked Roger how he intended to serve, "That's relatively easy, I've been practicing a bit at tossing with my racket then doing my normal swing and follow through. I may double fault a few more times, but that will make the game more challenging for me. The thing is to make it challenging so I'm not bored to tears. I've taken different players apart so many times, I know what to attack and they tend to fall apart when I do."

Rafael Nadal was reached at a tournament in his native Spain, "Well its an insult to everyone including me. I mean if he does it for all of them why not me?" laughed Nadal, "But really I can see where he is coming from, but it is a bit ridiculous."

Nikoly Davydenko, who has been accused of gambling and not putting out 100 percent during matches said he wouldn't play Roger under the circumstances. "Well you look at it from the way people are treating me, if I lose to Roger they'll say I'm not trying. If I beat him they'll be checking the wires to see how much was bet on the match."

Federer had these final words of challenge to his compadres, "This is your chance to give me a black eye, to give me the worst year I've had in a decade, but I'll beat you anyway spppppht!"

The gauntlet has been thrown down!
