New Delco, India (IP) - A blimp like device used in a recent Bollywood movie has gone into full scale production and has become the latest craze in transportation.
The vehicle is a long, thin, aerodynamically "smart" blimp-like craft which can move at much higher speeds than its fatter cousins like the standard American blimp and the zepplin. The hard sections of the craft are made of light weight composite fiber components. The "balloon" section is filled with helium.
The passenger compartment is also very aerodynamically friendly in that it is not very wide and is wedge shaped in the front and rear. Small fins attached to the compartment help stabilize the craft. The back of the craft has four fins with rudders placed at ninety degree angles to each other and flaps on these surfaces contol the yaw, pitch, and general attitude and orientation of the craft's motion.
The passenger compartment is capable of separating from the main body of the craft and is equipped with parachutes so that the craft can make a soft landing in case of an accident. An air bag device hidden under the craft inflates and provides enhancement for the soft landing and serves as a flotation device in the event of a water landing.
A propeller provides thrust and there are three models which use either an electric motor, a gas motor, or a hybrid system.
The price of the craft is $12,400 American dollars.
