Prime Minister Tony Blair revealed yesterday to reporters that he has been a long time fan of the late US comedian Andy Kaufman and Kaufman's routines inspired him to perpetrate a "goof" of international proportions on the public.
"I can't beleive that everyone fell for all the crap that I laid down, man", said Blair as he toked marijuana from a large glass bong.
His pot habit has also been longstanding and another well kept secret. Blair so admired Andy Kaufman's ability to keep fans wondering if what he was doing was serious or not, that he embarked on his own brand of subtle satire that culminated with his election as Prime Minister.
"I fooled the world", he said "And I'm especially proud of the job I did on US President George W. Bush. What a supreme ass he is..though I must say, the perfect straight man."
Mr. Blair's only regret is the lives lost in his comical foray into the Iraq war. "It's too bad that so many people had to die", he remarked, "but that's just show business, I guess."
The Prime Minister said he wants to be remembered not only as the worst leader Great Britain has ever seen, but as a good comedian as well.
"Honestly", he told reporters as they left the room in shock, "You...and the world have been a great audience". Mr. Blair plans to tour Europe and America with a stand up routine after leaving office and said he has a five picture deal with Sony in the works.
