CCN (Crazy Cal News) - Washington, D.C. - Today, the House failed to overturn President George Bush's veto. The 222-203 vote was quite short of the two-thirds majority needed to override the veto. It was stunning defeat for the Democrats and the American people.
Even some Republicans were shocked at the defeat. Republicans have expressed a willingness to put benchmarks for progress on Iraq's government, but said that they would reject a U.S. withdrawal time frame.
Rep. Jerry Lewis, R-California, said, "HEEeeeeyy you silly Democrats. You've made your point. You had your dog-and-pony show. You've posed for political holy pictures on TV. Now what is your plan to support the troops? I'm personally going to put on a telethon. I sure miss Dino."
Armed Services Committee Chairman, Sen. Carl Levin, D-Michigan, said Wednesday that Bush vetoed "the will of the American people" expressed in November's elections.
"We've got to begin to reduce our troop presence because there's no military solution in Iraq," Levin said.
"Heh heh," said Bush, "I don't listen to polls, and I don't listen to the American people. I'm the decider. I decide what's good for America. As long as I'm gettin' kickbacks from Halliburton, we're stayin' in Iraq. Those Democarts just don't understand good Christian fundamentulist Republicrat values. We need more troops in Iraq. We're goin' ta win this war. Ol' Obama bin Laden can spout all he wants. Hillery can too. It won't make a bit of difference. I talk to dead families all the time and they support me."
