WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The World Bank's board met privately on Friday to discuss President Paul Wolfowitz's offer to have his girlfriend Shaha Riza pose for Playboy or Penthouse "to show just how hot she really is."
Wolfowitz's leadership has been thrown into turmoil by revelations that he helped his girlfriend get several high-paying jobs at the Pentagon, the US State Department and the World Bank for which she was not qualified.
The 24-member World Bank board has informally decided "to get rid of that Republican sleazebag" after all of the bank's employees, most all aid groups and all Democratic politicians have urged Wolfowitz to resign. Tens of thousands have signed a petition to "throw the bum out."
The United States government, which is the bank's largest shareholder, is standing by Wolfowitz, and George Bush has said "So what if he is a corrupt neoconservative? So what else is new?"
Many European governments would like to see Wolfowitz thrown out on his ass but they are too chickenshit to say so publicly since they do not want to provoke a fight with the USA.
At Wednesday's meeting, Wolfowitz stated again that he would not step down.
"I can do anything I want cause I am God," he said. "Nyah, nyah, nyah. Just look at the curves on that babe."
