Jyrki Kasvi, a member of the Green League political party who is seeking re-election to parliament in Finland, has translated his campaign website into Klingon. The fact the language has no words for green, environment, recycling or global warming is only a minor drawback, which native Klingon speakers such as George W. Bush (Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam) have never regarded as a problem.
All of Bush's speeches are written in Klingon, as evidenced by the high incidence of phrases such as 'weapons of mass destruction', 'all foreign nationals', 'destroy the peace', 'the global war', 'kill thousands of innocent people' and 'your mother has a smooth forehead'.
Mr Kasvi declined to say why he is taking this measure, but it may be because Klingon, in the popularity table of world languages, comes fifty two places higher than Finnish which is second to bottom, just above French.
Translation note: 'Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam' = 'Today is a good day to die.'
