image for Outrage as Pope takes crap in a phonebox
Drunken Pope craps in phonebox

The Vatican was forced to issue an apology yesterday after the Pope was photographed befouling a public phone box in St Peter's Square.

A spokesman for the church told reporters, "The Holy Father is thoroughly ashamed of his actions over the weekend but he has been under a lot of stress recently, what with being God's representative on earth and all that."

The incident took place after the Pope and several high ranking Vatican officials went on a pub crawl to celebrate the birth of Christ.

After visiting several bars and a couple of lap dancing clubs, the group were making their way back to the Vatican, when the Pope was caught short. His actions were recorded on camera by a nearby photographer and appeared in yesterdays 'Bonjourno!' magazine.

Exotic dancer, Lola Slutbag, told reporters, "The Pope and a few of his pals came in on Saturday night and it was clear they were pretty drunk. There was an altercation at the bar, over some drink that was spilt and the bouncers had to throw them out. His Holiness can be a right nutter when he's pissed." she added.

This is the latest in a long line of incidents in which the Pope's behaviour has been a cause for concern. In December he was witnessed brawling outside a popular nightclub and in April of last year, was stopped and breathalysed, after driving the Popemobile the wrong way down a one way street.

The Holy Father appeared on Italian television last night, sporting sunglasses and a bag of ice on his head but declined to comment about the incident.
