Shock news reaching us this morning that Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has been involved in an air disaster. At least that's what you'd think if you watched the sensationalist nonsense that is GMTV.
Mr Blair and family were on their way to cadge another freebie, this time from Bee Gee, Robin Gibb, staying at his Miami Beach mansion buckshee, when the plane they were aboard missed a turning on the taxiway after landing safely. But according to GMTV it overshot the runway on landing!
The Captain who had obviously just passed his test could not get the plane turned so somebody went to help him and that's it. Nothing more to say, unless of course you are GMTV and want to make something out of it.
For the benefit of international readers, GMTV is a UK breakfast TV station that deals mostly in crappy competitions that ask tough questions like "What is your name?" If you can answer that then you are invited to make a pointless phone call at £1.50 a minute (calls will last no more than 2 hours) in the vain hope of winning a car or holiday.
The whole thing is pointless because you never win; it's always Mrs Spongo-Phipps from Rotherham or something like that.
Anyway according to them, Mr Blair and his family are intending to carry on with the holiday.
The Spoof says:
Why wouldn't they? As absolutely nothing really happened. Come on GMTV! Stop trying to be the equivalent of the tabloid press and let's have some decent reporting for once.
And anyway how could the Blairs turn down a freebie like that? It must be worth at least 5 grand of anyone's money!
