In the early hours of this morning the editor of this newspaper was arrested because he permitted publication in yesterday's edition a story detailing the introduction of Sharia Law into Australia. The article was deemed to be 'offensive to Islam' by the newly appointed head of The Society for the Protection of the Faith, Imam Mohammed bin Torquemada.
The editor was arrested under the new Australian Sharia Laws which came into effect two days ago. His protestations at the time of his arrest about 'freedom of speech' and 'freedom of the press' were ignored.
Witnesses to the arrest were told not to discuss it between themselves nor with other people. They were told that "the arrest never happened" by the arresting officers of the newly formed Australian Federal Islamic Police.
The editor was taken to one of the new Imams' Courts where he was condemned to be publically beheaded. Although the hearing was held in a closed court, it is believed by this reporter that, under the rules of the Imams' Courts, he would not have been permitted to speak and had to remain silent during the entire proceedings.
The editor is being held in close custody because "He is guilty of blasphemy and insulting the perfect word of The Holy Qur'an. He must not be allowed to spread the evil he derives from Satan aimed at undermining faith in the one true religion." as the official announcement by the Imam's Court has it. Court officers refused to make any further comment.
Requests to speak to the condemned man by his family and friends were refused.
The punishment will be carried out next Friday immediately after morning prayers. No-one will be permitted to speak to the condemned man prior to his execution. Attendance by the public is encouraged.
