image for Brazil Makes A Monumental Decision Regarding The Equator
President Ventana's decision will cost the Brazilian taxpayers a lot of money.

BRASILIA, Brazil - The Brazilian government is getting ready to make a landmark decision in regards to the world famous Equator

Word from President Sancho Ventana is that he has decided that it is time to replace the old name.

He stated that for the past few years he has seriously been contemplating this matter and he has finally decided to go through with it.

The South American president informed the world news media that effective January 1, 2014, the name of the Equator will be changed to the Ring.

He pointed out that the name is much more descriptive and it really has a nice ring to it. He giggled and said that he did intend the pun.

Several polls were taken and the Brazilian citizens overwhelmingly approve of President Ventana's decision by a percentage margin of 97 to 3.

SIDENOTE: The Brazilian Department of Signs has stated that they figure that it will cost about $3.7 million [U.S.] to replace every single sign that has the name Equator on it.

Make Abel Rodriguez's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)
