Tel Aviv, Israel - While the Israeli army has been preparing for a possible regional war by calling up its reserve units, deploying Iron Dome around the country, holding training drills, and distributing gas masks to the civilian population, the ultra-Orthodox in Israel are preparing for war with prayer. Rabbis of the ultra-Orthodox communities in Israel are calling this Yom Kippur to be the most crucial in hundreds of years.
"The lives of all Jews and the security of the State of Israel are depending on the prayer of the righteous. Without our prayers and our atonement, the All Mighty will bring his wrath upon the Jewish nation through an attack on Israel by Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran," prophesized Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky.
During Operation Pillar of Defense, Kanievsky promised his community in Bnei Brak that the city will be protected from missiles by the merit of Torah study. Kanievsky predicted accurately regarding missiles not landing in Bnei Brak, but he failed to mention that this was due to the success of the Iron Dome intercepting these missiles.
"As far as I'm concerned, we should just send all of them to the Israeli-Syrian border in the Golan Heights and see how effective their prayer is," stated the Head of Yesh Atid and Israeli Finance Minister, Yair Lapid.
It is unclear if Mr. Lapid is bringing his proposal to the Knesset floor.
