New York - A US TV network tonight claims to have definitive proof that the young royal baby is to be named HRH Prince Philip of Cambridge in a nod to the Queen's nonagenarian consort Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
"We have news of a huge online wager this evening on the baby being named Prince Philip," a FoxHole News bulletin announced, "with close on $10 million bet in the past hour."
Within minutes of the TV report online bookmakers Aintgottaprayer.con slashed the odds on Philip from 14/1 to even money as gamblers swarmed to mop up fast diminishing prices.
Earlier today the names George, James and Henry were all well in the money in the list of possible choices for Kate and Wills' new brat.
The couple and their newborn son were last seen on TV on Tuesday evening driving under a heavy police escort from the hospital straight to Buckingham Palace to show off their sprog to Her Majesty the Queen.
Within a few minutes of arrival online spread betting indexes reported a 'wall of money' on naming the child after his paternal great-grandfather, commonly known in Palace circles as Phil the Greek.
Expect an announcement of the child's full name around noon tomorrow.
