Cheyenne, Wyoming - As the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa winds down, the state of Wyoming is gearing up for its unofficial cow patty poll. Just as people at the Iowa State Fair could put a kernel of corn in a jar for the Republican candidate they liked best, voters attending the Cheyenne Rodeo and Fried Butter Competition can place a cow patty in a bucket for the candidate of their choice.
Currently, the polls indicate that Michelle Bachmann won the Ames Straw Poll, with 4,823 votes. Representative Paul (TX) came in second with 4,671 votes. Former US Senator Rick Santorum came in 4th, with Herman Cain in 5th place. Texas Governor Rick Perry, despite the fact he formally announced his desires to run for President the other day, came in 6th place.
While it's true polls such as the Ames Straw Poll or the Wyoming Cow Shit Poll are not always a predictor of who will get the GOP nomination, it will be interesting to see which candidate is more full of shit in Wyoming.
