Liberal Democrats breathed a sigh of relief today after Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner was 'released' from rehab long enough to announce his resignation and thank his parents, his wife, his constituents his office staff, his congressional friends, and the Federal Pension Plan for making him the man he turned out to be.
A smaller sigh was heard on the other side of the pond as well, as Europeans, who couldn't figure what all the fuss was about, figured they too could get back to the serious business of bailing out Greece, Spain, Portugal and probably Ireland as the debt crisis caused by George Bush's liberal pension plans for socialist government workers finally came home to roost.
The public forum turned into a version of the Gerry Springer show as a number of hecklers continued to ask to see the subject of his humiliation, ie; his cloaked and uncloaked member sent to some willing and some unsuspecting public site followers.
Despite continued questions from an interested, and persistent onlooker, presumably a taxpaying voter, Weiner refused to confirm or deny the pointed question, "Is it really seven inches?' which resulted in turmoil as the horde of media reporters made a mad rush to rip his trousers off and get to the bottom of the issue in time for 'news at 11.'
A recap of the press conference, and a review of Weiner's 7 terms in congress followed the debacle with the final analysis on MSNBC being that Weiner would be back. Chris Matthews, with an audience of 2500, barely beating out Keith Olbermann's 750, opined that he thought Weiner would make a 'passionate talk show host on par with Eliot Spitzer."
Mathews did acknowledge that Weiner did not have any formal training in any meaningful discipline, but if he was paired with another liberal with a law degree, they could be a viable pair.
With Obama possibly on the way out in 2012 Matthews said he felt a 'tingle up his leg' when he thought about current Attorney General Eric Holder, "I can just see it now," said Matthews dreamily, " The Weiner Holder Hour! "
It doesn't get much better then this folks, stay tuned for the AP & Guardian poll!"
And yes , public outcry trumps Corrupt Politics in the USA. God Bless America. At least some of the time!
