The Coy W. Waller Laboratory Complex on the campus of the University of Mississippi has reported the first death from marijuana.
The research center is the only legal marijuana farm and production facility in the United States.
Mahmoud ElSohly, the director of the lab said, "This is an extremely disturbing event to happen here in our laboratory. It will take us years to recover from this tragedy."
This death by marijuana is especially important because it is the first death resulting from marijuana in 3,000 years of recorded history. Cannabis prohibitionists are looking at this death as justification that marijuana is a dangerous drug.
The exact details of the death are still sketchy, however initial reports suggest that one of the laboratory rats used in experiments died rather tragically yesterday when a fifty pound container of cannabis fell from a high shelf and crushed the rat to death.
Media contacts at MPP and NORML were unable to comment at this time.
