Philadelphia, PA - A golden retriever has been arrested for driving without any license. The pooch was arrested by the State Police while driving only 45MPH on the busy I-95 highway between Philadelphia and New York City. The dog was taken to a local animal shelter and is being held without bail.
State Police say it all began on an average morning rush-hour commute.
"I saw a car driving very slowly in the right hand lane." said Sgt. Lassie Fido. "I just thought it was a real ugly guy driving, until I looked closer and saw it was a dog." she said.
The quick-thinking police sergeant says she followed the car for thirty miles before putting on her siren. The car pulled over just outside Philadelphia.
"The driver pulled to the side, and I was just so shocked to see it was a golden retriever! The dog was very nice, and wagged his tail as he got out of the car. I didn't no what to do after that, so I called for back-up!" said Sgt. Fido.
The State Police were on the scene for six-hours before someone decided to arrest the dog for driving without a license.
"The dog was a very good driver, just a little slow. He had some trouble reaching the gas pedal, but his steering and driving manners were perfect." said Sgt. Fido.
The State Police also discovered a human male, asleep in the back of the car. The human was taken out of the car and shot.
