Up until Friday, no one had a clue where the Democratic Senators from Wisconsin were hiding out in protest of controversial budget repair bill being pushed through the Senate by Wisconsin Governor, Scott Walker. The Senators claim the bill would strip public workers of their collective bargaining rights.
Many opined that the Senators had taken the opportunity to enjoy a mid-winter vacation in sunny Florida, but those leads turned out to be false. As were the rumors that the Senators were holed up at an Illinois Best Western Hotel.
Audio/video specialists studying leaked videotapes made by various members of the Senate say that it is quite possible the missing Democrats are hiding out in the very same Chilean mine that was the home to 33 Chilean miners last year. "The fact that the background was solid rock, and there were Elvis CD's laying about kind of clinched it for us," said Rupert Uvee, one of the specialists lucky enough to get a peek at the tapes.
Upon learning of the Senators' location, Governor Scott Walker contacted the head of INTERPOL to inquire as to what they might do to assist in extraditing the errant Senators back to Wisconsin from Chile. The call was considered a prank and so far, nothing further is being done until, Scott says, "the carpetbaggers come to their senses."
