(US and A) - After the Senate voted to repeal the longstanding "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, Senator Harry Reid (Democrat, Nevada) quickly tweeted the following message just past noon on Saturday:
@LadyGaga ~ We did it! #DADT is a thing of the past.
Seeking not to be outdone, Senator John Ensign (Republican, Nevada) immediately tweeted to one of his two accounts:
@SanFranciscoGayMensChorus ~ Hip hip hooray! They dragged me kicking and screaming across the finish line, but I actually did the right thing as well...
Confused Nevada voters immediately questioned why both Senators were trying to impress out-of-state entertainers, rather than focusing on local acts.
Said one angry Nevada man: "There are plenty of gay-rights folks here in our very own state who have Twatter accounts. People like Siegfried and Roy, the Liberace impersonator at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, and Barry Manilow just to name a few. I'm sure any one of 'em would have appreciated a note."
