Clay Duke, an ex-convict, shot up and held a school board meeting hostage Tuesday. Duke was apparently distraught over the firing of his wife.
Duke released the gallery of people at the meeting intent on getting revenge for his wife's dismissal. What his wife did for the school district was not disclosed and whether she resigned or was fired is also not clear.
Duke was apparently planning the take over for some time. Police found the date circled on the calendar in his trailer home.
The school board meeting was interrupted when Duke entered with a gun and started yelling about his wife's dismissal. One of the board members bravely threw himself on the sword, he informed Duke that he was most likely the one that fired his wife, the assailant started firing on the man and the board. He hit nothing, from 3 feet away he came up dry.
At another point in the assault a woman went after Duke with her purse, trying to knock the gun out of his hand. in the attempt she fell to the floor where Duke towered over her, but did not shoot. He eventually let the woman go.
Police arrived and shot Duke, after Duke hit the floor he turned his gun on himself and finally hit something, himself.
Duke died immediately.
Duke should have circled the three days before the school board meeting with, Shooting Range Practice. Oh yes, his wife was fired, no bullet money.
