November 26 (Spoof News) - Republicans are hopeful that a government shutdown in April will prove that they are serious about smaller government and less influence from Washington.

"I know we can avoid a government shutdown if we work with Obama to increase the debt limit, but that isn't going to happen as long as their is a man like Obama in the White House." John Boehner said to reporters.

When asked to explain "man like Obama," Mr. Boehner scoffed and changed the subject to his new look.

Other Republicans are defending Mr. Boehner and his idea for smaller government.

"Sure, we can't really balance the budget with our plans, because we like war and giving major corporations major tax cuts, but we do stand by our pledge for smaller government with use of government shutdown." said incoming Senator Ron Johnson.

It isn't clear if Republicans and Democrats can work together to fix budget in time to avoid a shutdown, but it does look like Republicans like their options.
