Despite what has been written in recent days following the critical injuries suffered by Gotham City District Attorney, and the death of his finacee Rachel Dawes, Dent may have been responsible for the death of a longtime aid for reputed mob boss Sal Maroni and 4 other men, including 2 of Gotham's Finest.
Harvey Dent was last seen in Gotham General Hospital, being treated for wounds suffered at the hands of the criminal mastermind known simply as the Joker, before the clown-faced lunatic destroyed the hospital with explosives.
"Commissioner Gordon said that we were to announce that Mr. Dent was evacuated from the building," said an unnamed source. "But I know that he escaped before the explosion."
Later that day, the body of a man identified by police as a driver for Sal Maroni, the reputed leader of Carmine Falcone's mob, was removed from Maroni's car following a one-vehicle accident.
Sources say this driver was Dent's first victim.
"We spoke to Maroni, who stated that Dent flipped a coin to decide whether Maroni should die or not," said the unnamed source. "He was spared, but Harvey Dent shot and killed the driver, causing the crash."
(Allegedly! I don't want Maroni or Dent suing me.)
Gotham police are still investigating these deaths, as well as trying to find the Joker, Dent, and The Batman, who escaped following a police pursuit near Commissioner Gordon's residence.
While Commissioner Gordon has told insiders that five people were killed, allegedly by Dent, police can't confirm this.
"We know that Dent killed the guy at the bar, then he shot Maroni's driver," said our source. " Dent doesn't kill Ramirez, so he must have killed the other two cops that were sent to pick up Gordon's wife and kids. Keep in mind that Ramirez said she had called off the two cops that were supposed to pick them up, and this is assuming that they had actually showed up to Gordon's residence with Ramirez in the first place."
"Maybe the answer can be found on the DVD version. I read that 1/2 hour of footage was cut."
In related news, Manhattan ADA Abbie Carmichael, last seen on the reality show "Law and Order", has been appointed interim Gothan DA until a special election can be held. Manhattan DA Adam Schiff told reporters he has little in the way on advice for his former ADA.
"As I've told her in every episode of 'Law and Order', she needs to be able to prove motive, or else cut a deal."
