image for Wreckage of Russian coke sub spotted near Deepwater Horizon rig remains
Last known sighting of the coke sub

Gulf of Mexico - (Crude Mess): Footage from a NASA surveillance satellites shows the remains of a Russian 636M (Varshavyanka) class submarine located close to the seabed burial site of the Deepwater Horizon rig.

The Red October - NATO reporting name 'Improved Kilo' - had been secretly tracked from its Colombian cargo pickup point enroute to Mobile, Alabama.

Captained by Marko Ramius the post World War II attack sub had undergone several refits to adapt it for long haul freight trips.

Worried Pentagon officials today refused to confirm or deny that the sub's remains bear all the telltale signs of a sudden deep water impact.

News of the video footage spread like wildfire this morning in DC as BP summoned a phalanx of specialist lawyers to demand immediate sight of the top secret surveillance tapes.

Meanwhile in Moscow Russian President Dim-Eatery Medvedev expressed his horror at the prospect of BP's 'annihilation'.

"We're all f***ed if this Marko Ramius story gets out!" a Kremlin aide commented.

BP has lost 95% of market value since the 20 April prang.
