Wamego KS: The legendary Louisiana Swamp Monster Fred arrived today unannounced at the Pottawatomie fishing lake where he intends to set up residence . The lake is located near the small quiet Kansas town of Wamego, population 4,500.
Kansas has a population density of 33 people per square mile affording Fred peaceful solitude and the lake has ample fish stocks for sustenance. There are no clams, crabs oysters or shrimp to nibble on here, but neither will there be any more shellfish in the Gulf States if the BP oil leak isn't stopped!
Fred did a little exploring in the forest and found the remains of an old house with a ruined tornado shelter in the basement, a Tin Man, a Scarecrow, a Cowardly Lion and several melted witches. Then he saw the flashing neon sign "OZ MUSEUM" established 1939, proprietor Dorothy. An unseen dog could be heard barking! Since it was still early, no tourists were in sight.
Fred went back to the lake to think and get a little sleep but lay awake for a long time. I'm not homesick he thought and then shrieked "I'm allergic to corn!"
