Klansing, MI - Patriots from all over the Klansing, Michigan area descended on Pikers Park Sunday for a picnic and rally. The air was overpowered with the smell of good old-fashioned home-cooked food that permeated the park.
The theme of the gathering was Reconstitution and the picnic participants were asked to bring a dish that embodied that concept. Just like the latest play on the word Reconstitution, as in bringing back a strong adherence to the laws set forth in the Constitution and thereby "reconstituting" it, the picnic's organizers thought it would be fun to do the same thing with food. The picknickers didn't disappoint.
There was "Orly Tater Salad" and "Rush Limebars," "Ann-tipasto Coulter" and "Blanche Lincoln's Blue Dog Pie." But it didn't stop there. "Stromboli Thurmond" and "Secession Salad" were huge hits as were a variety of reconstituted foods such as freeze-dried camping meals and MRE's donated by the local militia.
But the food that took home the blue ribbon was the "Barbequed Baby 'Beck' Ribs." "Man, that meat was as tender as a bleeding liberal's heart," said one attendee. "I couldn't get enough of the baby Beck ribs. How appropriate, cause I sure as hell can't get enough of Beck himself," he said with a sloppy bbq grin.
