Encino Hills - (Propofool): The Jackson family is devastated: legal minefields of Dr Conrad Murray's manslaughter indictment and some 'excruciatingly complex' probate secrets surrounding the late singer's estate have just turned very complicated.
Peter Lopez, Jackson's business affairs attorney, was found dead at his Encino Hills home yesterday, with a reported single gunshot wound to his head.
He was 60.
Outwardly he was a highly successful professional with a thriving client business, terrific reputation, a wonderful marriage to 'Dukes of Hazard' actress Catherine Bach and zero depressive symptoms.
His sudden and unexpected gunshot death is being treated as a 'suicide'.
"We're shocked and dismayed," sources close to the Lopez family said today as an autopsy report was awaited from the Encino coroner's office.
Lopez had stacks of celebrity clients including The Eagles, R&B singer Babyface and Jennifer (no relation) Lopez.
He was widely respected in the notoriously cut-throat US music industry and frequently travelled with Jackson to concerts and award ceremonies.
In 2006 California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Lopez to the state's boxing regulator, the California State Athletic Commission and made him a director of the California Exposition and State Fair Board.
A coroner's department statement is expected shortly.
