"He had been acting strangely since day one, lurking around behind clothes racks and spending a lot of time watching the security monitors in the back room," said Quentin Newbry, acting store manager for Jamieson's Supermarket in La Puente,Ca.
Guillermo Ramasthan Smith was hired last month to re-stock the stores dry goods section shelves but neglected his duties to engage in the behavior Newbry talked about.
Finally, after following the second female employee in as many days to her home after work, Smith was called into the store to explain his odd behavior.
Using an interpreter, it was discovered that Smith had misinterpreted the job title as store "stalker", an occupation that is quite common in his home country and pays well with good benefits. It all had been a simple language mix-up.
Smith has been re-assigned to work in BBQ sales, right next to the Kiddie Hamster Corral and the pet fish aquariums.
