This mornings commute was interrupted this morning, when two trucks hauling manure to a mushroom farm in eastern Pennsylvania, overturned on I495. The accident happened around 05:15 near exit 15 in the north bound lanes.
Police say the vehicles will be removed, but cleaning up the mess, could take some time. The two trucks were traveling north when a small green car darted out in front of the first truck, causing him to veer sharply to the left, clipping another car and overturning. the second truck, plowed half way through the mucky solution, before it too overturned, blocking all traffic.
Police say the driver of the car, who caused this horrific stench, will be found using the traffic cameras, and prosecuted for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield rite of way, and possibly forced to pay for the cleanup.
There is approximately 76 tons of cow manure spread across the interstate and it will take hours to remove it.
City officials have brought out snow removal trucks, and front end loaders out to scoop up the mess, but getting all of it, will take some time to wash away. So we can expect the smell from capitol hill to hang around for a while.
