US PRESIDENT Barack Obama is a secret fan of Wotsits.
The popular corn snack beloved of other world leaders including JFK, Margaret Thatcher and Neil Kinnock, has been a family favourite for hundreds of years.
Obama confessed his admiration for the crisps during talks with the German Chancellor.
He said: "I am a real fan of Wotsit potato chips. I wish we had them in the States. They help me keep in shape. I commend the makers on what must be a very secret recipe."
The makers of Wotsits were gobsmacked.
A delighted Humprey Barclay, CEO of Wotsit PLC said: "Really the recipe isn't a secret. It's just reycled corn, a bit of cheese and some preservative. But we're thrilled Mr Obama enjoys them. We're going to invite both him and his family to take the VIP tour of our factory in Wigan.
Nutritionists though were not impressed.
Expert Clare Gumm said: "I'm surprised the American President has time to talk about crisps. Nor is it a good message to send to young people - that it's OK to eat what you like. I hope he doesn't eat his Wotsits in front of his wife or, worse, his children."
