A source inside the Republican National Committee has confirmed that the RNC is planning to hold the 2012 convention in a telephone booth. With the steep decline in the number of Americans who now declare themselves Republicans, the RNC has been faced with some difficult choices, the source said. "The consensus is that it is better to hold it in a smaller venue that looks full than in a large one that looks empty"
MIchael Steele, Chairman of the RNC was obviously caught by suprise by the leak but quick to reply. "Yes...we are considering this alternative...but not for the reason that has been leaked to the press. We are a big tent party...and thought of having the convention in a big tent...but what is more American than an old fashioned telephone booth...a reminder of the good old days...when there was a phone booth on every corner...when Americans were proud to be Americans....and Republicans knew the value of a dime. Though no decision has been made yet...this could be the best convention in our history"
The inside source tells the AP that indeed, a decision has been made...but there is difficulty in finding a phone booth still in existence in the country, "kind of like finding a real Republican" he stated.
Fox News was taken by surprise but issued a statement praising the decision. "We applaud the RNC decision to bring a brilliant and forward looking innovation to the process of selecting our next president.
Tipee Canoe and Tyler too!"
