Washington DC: President Obama today put the US economic recovery, the war in Afghanistan/Pakistan, Iran's nuclear bomb development, the Israeli-Arab peace conference, health care reform, cap and trade and US relations with the Russians on hold.
The president indicated the Nobel committee cited his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples" and "special importance to Obama's vision and work for a world without nuclear weapons."
President Obama said "I will now try again to fulfil this mission statement!"
The president then chaired a meeting of warring factions that are so belligerent to each other on certain issues, that they continue to push for a "public option" or threaten to use a "nuclear option." Arrayed around the conference table in the White House Situation room were the Democratic and Republican Congressional leadership, namely:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader John Boehner.
Vice President Biden, Admiral Mullen (Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) and General McChrystal (Commander, U.S. Forces Afghanistan) were present to break up any fistfights that might occur.
To be continued.
