"Listen honey, there's something I got to tell you. Something I should've, ah, mentioned to you earlier."

Hollywood, California - "Telling your girlfriend that you won't get married until all your gay friends can get married too maybe the best excuse heterosexual men have ever thought up to forestall marriage or avoid it all together," said Dr. Fred by phone concerning a recent University study on the matter. "It ranks right up there with 'I think I'm gay', 'I'm sleeping with my sister' and my personal favorite, 'I secretly want to marry my mother."

Dr. Fred went on to say that the same-sex marriage excuse is also the most believable of all the others too.

"That's because it makes men appear more attractive to the opposite sex," continued Dr. Fred "I should know. How do you think I got my wife and my show?"

"I feel guilty," confesses John Sanchez, who recently used the new excuse on his girlfriend of 5 years. "But not because I'm lying to my girlfriend, but because now I have to vote against any passage of same-sex initiatives in order to keep up the sensitive and caring guy facade."
