WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Obama totally lost it in the House of Representatives today after members of both parties made disingenuous remarks.
Republican House member Joe Wilson had shouted "You lie!" during the President's health care speech to Congress on Wednesday, and liars from both parties had condemned the heckling.
After the speech, South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson approached the President to apologize for his inappropriate outburst.
"This evening, I let my emotions get the best of me when I was listening to your remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill," he said as a tiny muscle in his right eyelid ticked furiously. "While I disagree with your statements, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend my sincere apologies to you for this lack of civility."
Obama just glared at Wilson and hollered, "You lie! You're just trying to save face!"
Democrat Rob Miller, who is running against Wilson in next year's midterm elections, approached.
"You're absolutely right, Mr. President," he said. "Rep. Wilson's behavior tonight exemplifies everything that is wrong in Washington. Instead of engaging in childish name-calling and disrespecting you, Sir, Mr. Wilson should be working towards a bipartisan solution that makes quality, affordable health care available to each and every South Carolinian."
Obama looked at Miller and bellowed, "You lie! You're just trying to score points for next year's election!
"You're all liars!" he continued, turning to address the 435 startled politicians. "If I had a dollar for every lie told in this very House chamber, I could fix this broken economy!"
Members of the House booed and hissed as the President stepped down, storming from the chamber, stopping only for a moment to hang a sign around the neck of Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas that read, "I'M A LIAR!"
After the speech, members of the House called the president's outburst "totally disrespectful" and said he should apologize.
