CAPE CORAL, Fla. - No wonder doctors all over the country are whining about their lot in life. Medical school costs hundreds of thousands of dollars; malpractice insurance rates keep rising from month to month; and worst still, if you piss off a patient, they'll either sue you, or even injure you, as in the case of a Coral Gables physician, Dr. Paul Arnold, whose angry patient bit off the tip of the doctor's finger after being denied a prescription.
"I told him I wouldn't give him the prescription he demanded," said Dr. Paul to police who responded with EMT's. "I turned my back, and the guy grabbed my hand and began chewing on it, then chomped down and took it off at the joint," the shaken doctor reported.
The severed finger was found at the scene and it, and its owner was transported to a Dade County hospital for reconstructive surgery.
Coral Gables police and the Dade County Sheriff have filed a warrant for the unidentified 45-year-old man who was charged with aggravated battery.
One only wonders what Michael Jackson would have bitten off if one of his doctors had denied him Diprovan?
