After months of waiting Democratic candidate for the Minnesota Senate Al Franken has finally been announced the winner of the 2008 Minnesotan Senatorial race.
An eight month vote recount has held up the inauguration due to it being contested by Republican challenger Norm Coleman. Unfortunately for Mr. Franken the Senate term is up already without him ever having taken the seat of office. What that means that it is time for another election. Mr. Franken, upon hearing the news, had a nervous breakdown and was taken babbling tearfully into the emergency ward at the Minneapolis Mental Hospital. This left the seat open for opponent Coleman to take the position.
There is a deep seated suspicion that there is a Bush-esque Republican conspiracy plot in the circumstances of the long recount. There is an even deeper suspicion that it was orchestrated by Ahmadinejad.
