The first rule of extreme sports - "Invent your own rules" - has taken on a new meaning this summer as Fire Plug Waterboarding hits the streets in land-locked suburban communities everywhere in the U.S.
The kids call it "WB" for short and dare Warner Brothers to sue them! It has made the excitement of extreme water sports available to a whole new audience who might otherwise have to drive for hours or even days to go white water rafting and almost getting drowned!
The "King" at the present in Kansas City is Joe "Waterman" Landslide who holds the record for the longest session and Joe and friends, Bobby "The Suffocator" Blanche and Rollie "Brain Damaged" Brunner who hold the team record as all three were using the same fireplug!
Some parents have attempted to regulate the sport by demanding that an adult always be present for when the participants signal they've had enough!
"The little rascals can come up with something new every summer", stated Brunner's mother, Beatrice "Bluenose" Brunner, her nickname coming from Rollies sudden door-opening as a five-year-old. "Last year it was that sexual strangling stuff they had heard about!"
"Oh Mom", stated Rollie. "That is SO last year!"
"Well you kids be careful and don't overdo. You were gagging in your sleep and spitting up last night, your mother said, Joe Landslide! I know kids have to be kids but just don't drown or you'll give the whole street a bad name!"
