image for John Madden retires, will follow lifelong "Inventor" dream

The legendary John Madden, football commentator and computer game mogul, announced his retirement from the sporting world today.

Madden, aged 73, became famous following a national campaign to find a future Sports Announcer with the name "John Madden" following the highly successful string of computer games.

In his announcement, Mr Madden described the move as only the starting point of the career he has been long since dreaming of, that of an Inventor.

It appears that during the intervals of football matches that he has announced for, Mr Madden has been furiously working on a number of inventions which he believes will change the world.

Whilst making every effort to have kept them secret until this point, it is believed amongst his inventions are a device that will make space travel a reality for the common man, a device that will allow man to change the weather at will and finally it is believed that he may well have discovered the secret of alchemy.
