image for Orlando Bloom Weevil Shock
the Axcel Rose - first shown at Orlando Bloom in 2001

Unless you have experienced it yourself, the shock of finding your seed infested with weevils is unimaginable. So just think what it must be like to find that as a result of weevil infestation you are going to have to cancel one of the south-east's most prestigious flower shows.

Orlando Bloom has been Florida's top flower show for more than a decade. It has been responsible for introducing the world to such delights as Dahlia Disneyland Ridequeue and the beautiful Axcel Rose.

But when weevils strike, there is no room for compromise; not with the danger of a state-wide weevil outbreak. When the Orlando Bloom 2009 show organizers realized the seeds they were preparing were contaminated they had no choice but to destroy the lot. By then it was too late to get new seeds in time for growing the show flowers, so the whole thing has been cancelled.

However, the organizers say that the 2010 Orlando Bloom will be back to normal and they expect it to be bigger than ever.

Make Roy Turse's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
