In centuries past the United States of America has enacted legislation to recognize dozens of event-specific occurrences.
With the upcoming departure of George W Bush, Federal officials have decided to dedicate a national holiday in his honor. National Pretzel Day will be the new official title for April first (April Foold's day), beginning this year.
Many sources, both domestic and foreign, have recognized the significance of what the typical Rold's snack may have meant to the standings and economy of the US and the world. One senoir official was quoted as saying "While we're all glad George wasn't done in by that salty treat, the commission feels it appropriate to honor the nearly world-changing event, and feels that every able bodied citizen of the world should celebrate the day by sending pretzels to his new presidential library."
Vice President Dick Cheney wasn't available for comment when told of the news, but rumor has it that Haliburton has just announced plans to purchase all of the pretzel bakeries in North America.
