WASHINGTON, D.C. - President-elect Barack Obama has just appointed rock legend Bruce Springsteen to head the newly established U.S. Department of Music.

Springsteen who has had a dozen songs make it into the Top Ten was notified while he was performing at Calcutta, India's 'Sacred Cow Arena' before a concert crowd of 200,000.

The duties of the director of the Department of Music will include providing the appropriate music for state visits by all foreign dignataries including presidents, prime ministers, heads of state, and ambassadors.

Springsteen will also perform the music for all White House functions, banquets, receptions, parties, commemorative dinners, as well as week-end barbecues.

And he will write the lyrics and music to the various White House festivities. His first duty will be to write the theme song for the Presidential Inaguration.

President-elect Barack Obama recently told Wolf Blitzer on CNN's 'Late Edition' that he wants to retire the traditional presidential song 'Hail To The Chief' which was first used to announce the president in 1954.

Obama has already spoken to Springsteen who is presently working on a song to replace the presidential standard.

A close aide to the new president-elect did inform him that the title of the new presidential song will be 'Hail To The Bro, That's What I'm Talkin' About.'

The aide stated that Mr. Obama smiled, put down his bowl of Wheaties cereal, gave him a fist bump, and remarked, "Yeah, that's EXACTLY what I'm talkin' about."

Hail To The Bro, That's What I'm Talkin' About

Barack Obama, yeah he be the one.
The Illinois dude who can get it done.
Come on America, let's ring that bell.
The Bushes' are out, here come Barack and Michelle.

Obama can lead, let there be no doubt.
Hail to the bro, that's what I'm talkin' about

Wall Street's a mess, the auto giants are too.
That King George guy, he just ain't got a clue.
Bye to Miss Condi and that Cheney Dick.
It's adios to that GOP clique.

Obama can lead, let there be no doubt.
Hail to the bro, that's what I'm talkin' about.

One of Barack Obama's close assistants was informed by Springsteen himself that in honor of the new president he will be changing the name of his band from The E Street Band to The Obama Boulevard Band.

And since his appointment, Springsteen has talked to Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono about securing the rights to the Beatle song 'Michelle,' which he will use as First Lady Michelle Obama's theme song.

In related news. An assistant to Michelle Obama said that in the coming months the First Lady and daughters Malia and Sasha will be getting together with the new Secretary of Music. Together they will pick out songs for a CD which will be titled, "The Favorite Christmas Songs of The Nation's First Kiddoes."
