May 29, 2004 (Hollywood, CA) -
Yesterday night, during the elimination round of Fox's hit show "Jurassic Idol," the audience and judges were stunned when three Tyrannosaurus Rex's were placed in the bottom three; incidentally, the top three contestants of the night were two Stegosaurus' and a Velociraptor (who admittedly sang a beautiful rendition of Bob Marley's "Is This Love").
When the results were read, the stage was greeted with boos and jeers from the audience, to which host Brachiosaurus sarcastically replied, "It was your votes that did this, America." Inside reports say that the top three contestants were backstage crying on each others' shoulders after the show. Apparently, Brachiosaurus smacked them in the face with guilt and inadequacy with his comment. This dispute between the three contestants and the host was resolved in the parking lot a few hours later when the Velociraptor attacked Brachiosaur, ripped out his jugular vein and proceeded to eat him.
Almost immediately after the show, cries of racism against the three Tyrannosaurus' (or the "Three Carnivores," as judge Pteranadon calls them) lit up like wildfire. Even pop superstar Elton John put in his two cents:
"I don't want to set myself up here, but I find it incredibly racist. Those three carnivores happened to be the best in the competition and tonight they're in the bottom three. Racism is clearly the reason. I regret affiliating myself with this show. Not because I got my leg bitten off, but because it represents the ugly hypocrisy of America."
Coincidentally, there were no cries of racism during the first five weeks of the show when five Stegosaurus' were consecutively voted off week after week.
This morning, the Tyrannosaurus voted off was interviewed by "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest. He asked her if she felt the accusations of racism held water. Her response was, "ROOWWLL!" Seacrest said he couldn't agree more.
