Democratic party insiders say that a victory for Barack Obama in the US Presidential elections in November, will mean some changes at the White House, including its name, and a new coat of paint.
Mr Obama, who has been called a Halfrican in some quarters, would be the first 'half' President, and his supporters feel that such a historical event would warrant a namechange at the White House or, as they call it, the symbol of Racism in the US.
The White House was thusly named around 1811, having been known prior to this date as the President's House. More radical Obama followers suggested the name the Black House, to reflect the skin colour of the large majority of its builders, but the senator's wife, Michelle, ventured that, as he is not truly black, something more modest would suffice.
"The Half House has a ring to it, huh?" she asked friends in Denver this week.
And, despite the White House having been white since its construction began in 1792, the consensus is now that it should represent modern-day America and the leader in the Oval office, and 16 trillion liters of beige paint have been provisionally ordered for its redecoration before Chrsitmas.
