image for New Fusion Café Opens

Baltimore Maryland: A new fusion café, Café Booty, opened tonight in the Federal Hill section of downtown Baltimore.

This latest addition to the Baltimore restaurant scene, Café Booty, specializes in the trendy cuisine known as "Fusion." Fusion cooking has international influences! It is a style of cooking that uses ingredients and techniques from around the world, especially one that combines Eastern and Western influences. Fusion cooking can also take a form based on one cuisine, but prepared using ingredients and flavors inherent to another cuisine or cuisines.

The owners of Café Booty are Joseph Lombardo, his lovely wife Takara Lombardo, and long time friend Irwin Cohen. Takara met Joe while he was on assignment with the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) in Tokyo. Joe and Irwin have been friends since they went to high school in Brooklyn NY.

The menu was large, but our party of three managed to decide on a number of appetizers, entrees and dessert, namely:

    Blowfish Sushi Parmesan
    Miso Soup with Matzah Balls
    Teriyaki Chicken Alfredo
    Spaghetti with Tofu Meatballs
    Sea Urchin Cannoli

We were sorely tempted to try the "Everything Pizza" with octopus, chicken livers, sashimi, antipasto peppers, and mozzarella cheese. However, the waitress told us that our ordered meal portions were so big, we decided to wait till next time.

A wine list includes Sake, Chianti, Manishevitz Reds, Schlivovitz, other wines from around the world and various ales/beers (domestic and imported).

The food was about average, as the Sushi was a tad overdone, the Matzah Balls were too heavy and the Alfredo sauce was too runny. This writer has also had better Sea Urchin Cannoli elsewhere in the Baltimore area. Café Booty gets two stars for cuisine and three stars for service, although the food is a bit pricey!

We look forward to returning to Café Booty for the Sunday brunch which features bagels and lox (smoked salmon), white fish, ham, bacon, sausage, home fries, biscuits and gravy, fresh sliced roast beef, three egg omelets, toast/rolls, assorted breads and pastries, various types of salads, and fresh fruit.

Make Philbert of Macadamia's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
